In English language, there is a classification for the words in sentences according to their functions in sentences:
out inflection, in modification of or in addition to a verb
1. Noun : names a person, place, or thing
i.e. : Robert, desk, garden
2. Pronoun : takes the place of a noun
i.e. : I, you, he, she, it, ours, them, who
3. Verb : identifies action or state of being
i.e. : write, study, sing
4. Adjectives : modifies a noun
i.e. : smart, hot, tidy
5. Adverb : modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb
i.e. : slowly, often, softly
6. Preposition : shows a relationship between a noun (or pronoun) and other words in a sentence
i.e. : up, over, against, by, for
7. Conjuntions : joins words, phrases, and clauses
i.e. : and, but, so
8. Interjections : expresses emotion
i.e. : oh, ups, whooo
9. Article : identifies and specifies a noun
i.e. : a, an, the
