The text describes the way things are, with reference to a range of natural, man-made and social phenomenon in our phenomenon.
Generic structure :
1. General classification tells what the phenomenon under discussion is.
2. Description tells what the phenomenon under discussion is like in terms of : parts (and their functions), qualities, habits or behavior.
Report text generally describe an entire class of things, whether natural or man-made, such as kinds of animals, human body and natural phenomenon.
There are many examples about report text and most of them are quite familiar with us like "Mangroove trees", "Dolphins", "Whales", "Human Body's Energy" and so forth. Here are examples of report text :
Whales
Whales are sea-living mammals. They therefore breathe air but cannot survive on land. Some species are very large indeed and the blue whale, which can exceed 30 m in length, is the largest animal to have lived on earth.
Superficially, the whale looks rather like a fish, but there are important differences in its external structure; its tail consists of a pair of broad, flat, horizontal paddles (the tail of a fish is vertical) and it has a single nostril on top of its large, broad head. The skin is smooth and shiny and beneath it lies a layer of fat (blubber). This is up to 30 cm in thickness and serves to converse heat and body fluids.
explanation :
The first paragraph is called as General Classification paragraph because it gives the readers information about what is the text discuss about (in this case is elephant). The first paragraph also tells about topic in general.
The second and the third paragraphs are called as Description paragraphs because we can find specific information about the topic being discussed so we can imagine what the topic looks like, its habits and so on.
Aedes aegypti
Aedes aegypti is the main type of
mosquitoes carrying dengue virus causes dengue fever, yellow fever and
chikungunya viruses. It has a widely spread on tropical areas.
Aedes
aegypti is easily recognizable with the naked eye due to have a striking
black-brownish color with silvery white lines on the body and legs. Male
mosquitoes are generally smaller than female.
On the spread
of the virus cycle, the female mosquito is more dangerous because it sucks
blood as a protein needed to produce eggs. While male mosquitoes acquire energy
from the nectar of flowers and plants.
Aedes
aegypti is active during the day and they tend to stay on the dark area.
That’s why the children of school age are more often be the victims because the
children tend to sit in the classroom
during the morning until noon and their legs that are hidden under the table becomes
an easy target for this type of mosquito.
Aedes aegypti generally has a habitat in
the neighborhood, where there are lots of puddles of water in the tub or crock.
Female mosquitoes lay eggs on the surface of clean water. In dry conditions,
eggs can survive for a month. Then the eggs
hatch in 1-2 days into larvae. In contrast with eggs, larvae needs water for its
grow. The change of larvae into instars requires 5 days. Instar and then turn
into pupae for 2 days and then become adult mosquitoes. This development only
takes as long as 7 to 8 days.
